Key Responsibilities

  • •Collaborate with your squad to build and support a particular part of Monzo’s backend platform.
  • •Work with product managers, marketers, user researchers, designers, mobile/web engineers, data analysts, business analysts, and writers to deliver customer-focused features.
  • •Design, implement, and maintain distributed backend services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • •Contribute to infrastructure, security, payments, and data domains across Monzo’s collectives (Core Banking, Business Banking, Wealth, Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Platform, Fincrime, Security & Expansion).
  • •Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product; able to own and deliver backend features end-to-end.
  • •Experience with distributed systems and writing resilient software at scale.
  • •Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala, etc.).
  • •Comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity and changing requirements.
  • •Product-minded with focus on customer outcomes and data-informed decision making.
