Job Summary

Lead the design and delivery of lineside rail civil works across GRIP/PACE and staged lifecycle, from feasibility to AFC. Own station platform and foundation design, cable routes and troughing, UTX/URX crossings, level crossings, and ancillary civils such as walkways and drainage. Undertake design checking and assurance for safety-in-design and constructability, produce compliant outputs to Network Rail/TfL/LU standards, and coordinate interfaces across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design and delivery of lineside civil works across GRIP/PACE and staged lifecycle, from feasibility to AFC.
•Prepare and review designs for lineside infrastructure including station platforms and foundations, cable routes/ troughing, UTX/URX crossings, and level crossings.
•Develop and deliver ancillary civils (e.g., walkways, fencing, signage, drainage, hardstanding) and associated lineside deliverables.
•Undertake technical checking and design assurance of civils outputs, ensuring safety-in-design, constructability, and compliance with railway standards and CDM requirements.
•Manage interfaces with track, signalling, E&P, S&T, drainage, utilities, and MEP, and lead technicians/BIM modellers for ancillary design works and level crossing/cable trough deliverables.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a Master’s in Structural Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
•8–12 years’ experience in rail infrastructure with proven UK Rail project delivery from feasibility to detailed design.
•Current competencies with relevant rail authorities (e.g., Network Rail, London Underground, TfL).
•Working towards or holding professional engineering accreditation (e.g., ICE/IEng/CEng or equivalent, region-dependent).
•Familiarity with BIM/digital delivery workflows, model coordination, and structured data environments for UK rail infrastructure projects.
