Job Summary

Own and continuously improve the safeguarding framework that protects customer funds for ByteDance’s Global Payment services. Ensure ongoing alignment with UK FCA guidance under the Electronic Money Regulations (EMRs) and Payment Services Regulations (PSRs) by overseeing reconciliations, maintaining governance documentation, and defining controls for safeguarding risks. Partner with Finance, Operations, and Compliance, prepare board-level reporting, and lead safeguarding-related audits and regulator engagement.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the safeguarding framework, ensuring ongoing alignment with FCA requirements and guidance.
•Oversee daily safeguarding reconciliations for safeguarded funds and segregated accounts, ensuring timely investigation and resolution of breaks.
•Develop, maintain, and regularly update safeguarding policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
•Partner with Finance, Operations, and Compliance to embed safeguarding controls into business-as-usual processes, including new products and scaling initiatives.
•Monitor safeguarding risks, define controls and monitoring, escalate issues or breaches with remediation plans, and manage safeguarding-related audits and regulator engagement.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in accounting, finance, or a related field or above.
•Strong background in finance, treasury, or financial operations within regulated financial services, payments, or fintech environments.
•Solid understanding of FCA safeguarding rules and guidance for EMIs and/or PIs under the EMRs/PSRs.
•Hands-on experience with reconciliations, safeguarding reporting, and maintaining governance documentation.
•Ability to identify safeguarding risks early, influence stakeholders, and drive issues through to resolution in a fast-paced environment.
