Job Summary

Contribute to concept studies, strategies, drawing packages, and planning applications for development projects across sectors and clients. Support the Birmingham Development Team on multiple simultaneous projects, delivering tasks to budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements. Engage with clients and stakeholders, liaise with design teams and authorities to secure approvals and statutory agreements, and use relevant design codes, calculations, and infrastructure drawings. Software support includes InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or PDS.

Key Responsibilities

•Contribute to concept studies/strategies/drawing packages, and lead planning applications, technical approval submissions, and construction issues.
•Support delivery of development projects across sectors and clients while managing multiple concurrent projects.
•Engage clients and manage stakeholders, liaising with internal and external design teams.
•Ensure tasks are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements.
•Coordinate with highway, water, statutory, and local authorities to negotiate outline and detailed technical approvals and statutory agreements.

Key Requirements

•Knowledge of highway design, drainage strategy and design, flood risk assessment and management, utility design and planning, and awareness of the Development Industry.
•An appreciation of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, and building structures, plus an understanding of construction design stages and procedures.
•Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings with supervision.
•Knowledge of relevant design codes (e.g., Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, Local Authority Design Guidance) and preparation of drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals.
•Ability to use relevant software including Info Drainage, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or PDS, and communicate in writing and verbally with stakeholders and authorities.
