Key Responsibilities

•Lead communications for major research publications, engineering milestones, developer programs, ecosystem announcements, and Canva's research blog, owning the narrative and cross-functional rollout.
•Build and maintain relationships with technology journalists, AI influencers, and publications to position Canva in AI and tech conversations.
•Manage communications for Canva's engineering, AI, and research leaders, enabling media engagement, speaking opportunities, and industry thought leadership.
•Drive research and technical storytelling by surfacing breakthrough work and turning complex innovations into compelling external stories.
•Lead internal communications for the engineering organization, partnering with leaders to keep teams informed, connected, and inspired as we scale.

Key Requirements

•Extensive experience in technology, AI, developer, or research communications with a track record translating complex technical concepts into stories for specialist and mainstream audiences.
•Deep understanding of AI, engineering, and developer landscapes, including researchers, publications, conferences, and communities.
•Exceptional writing and storytelling skills across formats including media pitches, press releases, spokesperson briefings, and internal updates.
•Experience partnering with senior leaders and spokespeople to prepare for media engagements, keynote presentations, and thought leadership opportunities.
•Ability to operate in fast-moving environments, owning complex work from strategy through execution and clarifying ambiguity.
