Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead delivery of large-scale HV/EHV cable system projects from concept to completion with quality, safety, and innovation.
  • •Develop and oversee HV cable designs, including routing, burial risk assessments, and modelling of thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical performance.
  • •Provide expert input into cable system ratings, installation methodologies, jointing arrangements, cleating design, and system integration.
  • •Guide complex calculations to meet compliance with National Grid TPs, IEC, and CIGRÉ standards.
  • •Manage multidisciplinary coordination, technical risks, quality reviews, and 3rd-party inspections (including FAT/SAT witnessing and vendor oversight).

Key Requirements

  • •Demonstrated experience as a technical leader in HV/EHV cable system design.
  • •Proven track record designing, specifying, and installing complex cable systems in tunnel, urban, and constrained environments.
  • •In-depth knowledge of National Grid TPs, IEC, and CIGRÉ standards.
  • •Experience in regulated, quality-assured environments, preferably with National Grid, SSE, EirGrid, or equivalent TSO/DNOs.
  • •Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (MSc/MEng advantageous), and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
