Job Summary

Investigate damaged jet engine components by applying materials science to determine failure mechanisms and physical causes of distress. Key Responsibilities

•Conduct metallurgical investigations on damaged engine components and perform lab evaluations to determine failure mechanisms and physical causes.
•Plan and coordinate non-destructive evaluations, chemical analyses, and visual/microscopic examinations as part of investigations.
•Collaborate with internal customers to confirm needs and deliver investigations within agreed schedules.
•Prepare detailed, evidence-based reports and review metallurgical evaluation reports for engine hardware.
•Manage and review outsourced metallurgical investigations and support company EH&S, ethics & quality pillars.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering (or equivalent).
•Practical experience in failure analysis.
•Experience with optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
•Hands-on knowledge of degradation mechanisms of materials in service.
•Knowledge of heat treatment, coatings, machining, welding, casting, and forging processes.
