Key Responsibilities

  • •Design the high-voltage DC power transmission architecture for the tether, including transmission voltage selection to reduce conductor mass and resistive loss.
  • •Design and specify DC-DC conversion stages (step-up at the ground station and step-down onboard the drone) targeting high efficiency at continuous load.
  • •Size tether conductor gauge, insulation, and connectors for continuous current plus peak inrush with appropriate derating and safety margin.
  • •Define current limits and protection thresholds, coordinating over-current and fault behavior with onboard power distribution.
  • •Own thermal management and integrate the power system with ESCs and the flight controller; coordinate mechanical tether integration and safety/compliance requirements and produce design documentation.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • •Experience shipping electronics to production, taking designs from concept to real hardware.
  • •Proven power electronics design experience in the multi-kilowatt range, including DC-DC converter design and ownership of the full design.
  • •Working knowledge of high-voltage DC systems, conductor sizing, and thermal management from built and validated systems.
  • •Experience integrating power systems with three-phase motor drives and ESCs, and understanding interface behavior under load.
