Job Summary

Safely and efficiently operate an asphalt roller machine to smooth asphalt from the paver to proper depths. Apply knowledge of asphalt paving details such as grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction. Maintain equipment through minor servicing or escalate major issues, support daily safety and production meetings, identify and mark hazards, and perform related support work across multiple job sites.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate the asphalt roller machine safely and efficiently to smooth material to proper depths following paving patterns.
•Use knowledge of asphalt paving requirements including grades, drainage, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistency, and compaction details.
•Maintain equipment by performing minor servicing and maintenance or referring major problems to the supervisor.
•Ensure safety for crew members and the public; participate in daily toolbox meetings and review safety/risk assessments and production goals.
•Identify, locate, and mark overhead and project-specific hazards; follow incident procedures and complete documented task training prior to equipment use.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
•Previous heavy equipment operation experience or training is highly preferred.
•Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence.
•Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
•Valid driver’s license is preferred.
