Job Summary

Work on Nationwide’s Catastrophe Risk Modeling team to source, validate, transform, and deliver high-quality catastrophe data that powers analytics and decision-making. You’ll support catastrophe risk research, build and maintain ETL data pipelines, and use SQL, Python/R, Databricks, and Snowflake to manage large datasets. Partner with business stakeholders to improve data quality, automate workflows, and make complex risk information more actionable across the enterprise.

•Support catastrophe risk research and analytics related to physical property, weather, and catastrophe exposure data.
•Build, enhance, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes for research, modeling, and reporting.
•Use SQL, Python, R, Databricks, and Snowflake to source, transform, validate, and manage large datasets.
•Support data validation and reporting workflows to ensure outputs are accurate, consistent, and decision-useful.
•Contribute to process improvement and automation to make catastrophe analytics more efficient and scalable.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (data science, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, computer science, engineering, finance, or related).
•ACAS level actuary credential required (progress toward FCAS preferred).
•Prior professional experience in P&C pricing or reserving (catastrophe modeling experience highly preferred).
•Strong SQL capability and working proficiency in Python and/or R.
•A naturally curious, detail-oriented approach with judgment to question results and investigate discrepancies.
