Job Summary

Estimate construction project requirements for asphalt paving work by using prior cost history, project specifications, and detailed takeoffs. Build and maintain bid documentation, compile reports and information packets, and communicate bid details to field personnel on awarded projects. Review design options and recommend solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability, while following company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to support safe work and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepare detailed estimates using takeoff, past cost history, and input from field personnel.
•Maintain working documents and backup estimate figures, including up-to-date supplier pricing.
•Prepare bid reports and information packets and communicate bid aspects to field personnel on awarded bids.
•Review design options and recommend cost-effective, engineering-quality solutions based on materials availability.
•Follow company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to support safe work procedures and report problems to appropriate managers.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of construction estimating experience.
•Engineering degree or equivalent technical training/experience.
•Experience with estimating software and ability to use estimating and bidding software.
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
