Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and continuously improve features across the Pear Deck Learning suite, from presenter/student experiences to underlying platform services.
  • •Develop high-performance backend services in Node.js (Express) and Go (gRPC microservices) powering real-time classroom workflows.
  • •Create data-rich, accessible frontend experiences with React 18 and TypeScript, including state management and form/validation patterns.
  • •Design and implement REST and gRPC APIs for real-time data and service-to-service communication.
  • •Integrate AI services (OpenAI/Gemini), modernize legacy frontend surfaces, and operate services on AWS/GCP with monitoring and on-call support.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of software engineering experience building SaaS or customer-facing products, delivering complex, large-scale features.
  • •Strong TypeScript and modern React (hooks, React 18, Vite or similar), with an emphasis on performant, accessible UI.
  • •Production experience with Node.js and/or Go for backend services, including concurrency, service-to-service communication, and async/background processing.
  • •Experience designing REST and/or gRPC APIs for high-throughput systems, including validation, versioning, and documentation.
  • •Strong SQL and real-time systems experience (MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, and event/queue systems like Kafka/SQS/SNS/Pub/Sub; WebSockets/SSE/Firebase-style realtime).
