Job Summary

Build Exa’s developer relations function from the ground up, owning community evangelism, memorable events, and developer advocacy. Lead ecosystem and integration partnerships so Exa becomes a first-class search layer inside the tools developers already use. Drive developer education through demos and technical talks, while closing the feedback loop on API ergonomics, docs, and onboarding friction. Hire, coach, and set the bar for a growing DevRel team in San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities

•Build and own Exa’s developer community presence through community spaces, hackathons, meetups, conference talks, and open source engagement.
•Own technical ecosystem and integration partnerships with agent frameworks, orchestration libraries, IDEs/coding agents, and platform integrations from conversation to shipped, documented, maintained code.
•Create programs that turn users into advocates (champions, ambassadors, community contributors) and drive third-party awareness.
•Lead developer education via reference applications, demos, workshops, and technical talks in partnership with Technical PMM for blog and organic content.
•Hire, lead, and grow a DevRel team and run a feedback loop to Product and Engineering around onboarding drop-off, API ergonomics, and documentation gaps.

Salary: USD 200,000 - 320,000 annually

Key Requirements

•6+ years across developer relations, developer marketing, or engineering with a substantial public presence, including experience selling an API or developer platform.
•Demonstrated communication craft to developers via talks, workshops, streams, writing, and a live demo you’re proud of.
•Engineering credibility with the AI stack, including building with LLMs, agents, and retrieval and holding technical conversations with engineers.
•A track record building community from an early stage.
•Experience driving ecosystem/integration partnerships to shipped code, with integrations maintained rather than abandoned, plus experience hiring or mentoring DevRel talent.
