Key Responsibilities

  • •Contribute to or lead delivery of high-quality technical deliverables to clients, often as a technical reviewer and approver.
  • •Work with Local Authority flood management teams on projects including flood investigations, flood strategies, solutions for flood alleviation, natural flood management, sustainable drainage master-planning, and planning process support.
  • •Deliver flood risk assessments and sustainable drainage strategy solutions to support developments in the energy, highway, and rail sectors to secure planning consent.
  • •Manage and direct projects effectively, balancing programme, budget, and quality requirements, while supporting opportunities for project extensions.
  • •Mentor junior colleagues and oversee small project teams, including technical report writing and checking, and lead/present at internal and client meetings while championing positive H&S behaviours.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience delivering local authority flood risk services, including Sustainable Drainage Systems, Flood Risk Management Plans, Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, flood investigations, and planning review support.
  • •Experience delivering Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to support planning applications for new development.
  • •Demonstrable experience understanding budgets and leading delivery of projects and technical outputs related to flood risk management, flood risk assessment, or sustainable drainage.
  • •Understanding of key UK legislation and guidance including Flood Risk Management Act, National Planning Framework 4, SEPA guidance, and local authority policies (desirable wider regulatory knowledge for UK planning).
  • •A degree in a relevant environmental, geographical, science or engineering discipline, plus chartered status with C.WEM, CEnv, CSci or CEng or evidence of working towards this.
