Support the VA Network Security Operations Center by administering and improving production and development databases. Install, configure, harden, patch, and upgrade MSSQL 2022 instances; tune performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage backup/recovery. Key Responsibilities

•Install, configure, harden, patch, upgrade, maintain, and administer production and development MSSQL 2022 SQL instances.
•Perform logical and physical design, performance monitoring and tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, database backup and recovery, and query optimization/tuning.
•Configure and maintain SQL Agent jobs, server audits, SSIS packages, and Always On Availability Groups.
•Work with developers to design, develop, implement, and maintain new applications using MSSQL 2022.
•Write, debug, and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administration tasks; harden SQL per DISA/FISMA/GOV STIGS; manage TDE and SSL encryption; configure and administer MongoDB; provide 24x7 on-call support one week a month.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 124,540 - 160,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other technical discipline plus 12 years of experience (or 8 additional years of relevant experience substituted for education).
•Ability to pass a government Tier 2 Moderate Background Investigation.
•Privileged system access requirement: within six months obtain one of the listed SQL Server certifications (MCSA, MCSE, MCITP Database Administrator SQL 2016+, or MCTS).
•Experience installing, configuring, hardening, patching, upgrading, and administering MSSQL 2022 production and development SQL instances.
•Ability to write and maintain PowerShell scripts and support database performance tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and backup/recovery.
