Key Responsibilities

  • •Escort defendants to and from courtrooms, cells, and other areas, including accompanying them to the toilet to ensure security and safety (handcuffed if required).
  • •Monitor and supervise detainees in the docks during court sessions to ensure they remain secure and do not pose a risk.
  • •Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information discussed during court proceedings.
  • •Listen to distressing testimonies and provide professional support to detainees while managing personal wellbeing.
  • •Ensure detainees have access to food and drink and monitor their dietary requirements throughout the day.

Key Requirements

  • •Ideal candidates will have a current valid driver’s license, be reasonably fit and have good written and verbal communications skills.
  • •Commitment to making a difference to detainees and the judicial process; willingness to learn during a 5 1/2 weeks training course.
  • •Ability to work as part of a team to provide safe and secure escorting and custody services.
  • •High level of responsibility, vigilance and professionalism in handling challenging situations.
  • •Eligibility criteria regarding right to work in the UK: visa considerations and counter-signatory vetting requirements as described.
