Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and maintain tools, platforms, and best practices that help engineers across Xero work with AI.
  • •Own work end to end from early experimentation through production, including runbooks, monitoring, and rollback thinking.
  • •Shape the technical direction of an internal skills marketplace and AI distribution platform used across engineering.
  • •Develop guidance and best practices for authoring agent skills, including agents for remediation tasks.
  • •Collaborate directly with AWS, Microsoft, and GitHub on early-access technology not yet available in market.

Key Requirements

  • •Hands-on software engineering experience, ideally with C#, .NET and AWS (or the ability to quickly pick up new stacks).
  • •Experience building internal tools or platforms that other engineers genuinely relied on.
  • •Strong production discipline, including writing runbooks, monitoring, and thinking through rollback before go-live.
  • •Clear communication skills and the ability to bring people along with ideas.
  • •Curiosity about coding agents and AI-native tools, and interest in where AI engineering is heading.
