Job Summary

Join the Bridges Team in Exeter to support local authority clients across the Southwest, maintaining and enhancing a varied bridge stock. Lead projects from inception through construction, providing technical leadership on inspection, assessment, feasibility, detailed design, procurement, site supervision, and delivery. Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary design teams to produce compliant, safe, and timely designs, reports, calculations, and proposals, while also providing line management support to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage a portfolio of bridge and related schemes, acting as Technical Lead and Project Manager through inspection, assessment, feasibility, detailed design, procurement, site supervision, and construction.
•Deliver compliant designs with clients and design teams on time and within budget, meeting H&S, CDM, QA, and technical review requirements.
•Prepare and review reports, calculations, drawings, schedules, H&S risk assessments, feasibility studies, and other project documents.
•Write proposals for new schemes, including cost estimates, and manage the commercial position on projects.
•Provide line management duties and support the development of junior team members.

Key Requirements

•Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer status is anticipated.
•Practical experience with bridge design, maintenance, strengthening, assessment, inspection, and supervision from both construction sites and design office work.
•Practical project management experience for bridge projects across their lifecycle.
•Working knowledge of DMRB and MCHW for structural schemes.
•Understanding and experience using Eurocodes for bridge design and the design/assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges, and masonry arch structures.
