Job Summary

Install and terminate electrical systems on cutting-edge naval vessels, including cables, junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, switches, and related equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation, and coordinate with shipbuilding teams to meet installation timelines. Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards, including risk assessments and safe proving-dead procedures, while supporting secure, compliant operation aboard Type 26 frigates.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Install a variety of cables (multi-core, single core, co-axial) and electrical systems (junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, switches, etc.).
•Perform cable termination and install electrical equipment to trade standards.
•Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
•Collaborate with shipbuilding teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of electrical installations.
•Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards, including safe proving-dead procedures and safe proving/tag-out practices.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 40,016

Key Requirements

•Provide Modern Apprenticeship / trade papers when applying and complete a Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent trade qualification.
•Hold a SJIB card.
•Have experience working in marine installations or major industrial environments.
•Be familiar with risk assessments and safe working requirements including PUWER and COSHH.
•Read and follow trade drawings, electrical schematics, technical instructions, and tag-out and safe proving-dead procedures.
