Key Responsibilities

  • •Ensure train operations follow safety rules, speed restrictions, and emergency procedures per GCOR and ABTH.
  • •Manage train makeup and coordinate switching and movement in the rail yard and on main lines.
  • •Control engine/train movements using hand-held radios and hand signals, including spotting/re-spotting and counting activities.
  • •Break down deliveries in the yard by reclassifying, switching, and spotting cars to designated locations; maintain conductor records.
  • •Perform maintenance and inspections, including organizational maintenance on locomotives and preventive maintenance on track switches and grade crossings.

Key Requirements

  • •High school graduate or equivalent.
  • •Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Conductor.
  • •Minimum 2 years’ commercial railroad experience and/or 3 years’ government rail crew experience, or a valid locomotive engineer certification.
  • •Ability to complete Locomotive Engineer Certification/Recertification and maintain a Locomotive Operator’s license.
  • •Ability to complete online Container Inspection (MIL HDBK 138A) and obtain a forklift license; pass drug test and background screening and maintain CAC.
  • •Applicant must possess a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued driver’s license.
