Job Summary

Join a major z/OS mainframe environment to upgrade and support the z/OS operating system and ISV products from IBM and Computer Associates (CA). You’ll manage system resources across LPARs, perform security administration with RACF, ensure data integrity and recovery using DFSMShsm/FDR-ABR/FlashCopy, and optimize performance with RMF/SMF, OMEGAMON/BMC MainView, and WLM. Work in a hybrid setup supporting changes and upgrades with SMP/E and z/OSMF.

Key Responsibilities

•Upgrade, maintain, and support the z/OS operating system.
•Upgrade and support ISV products (primarily IBM and Computer Associates/CA).
•Manage hardware and logical resources across LPARs, including DASD/tape allocation and HMC/LPar configuration; perform security administration using RACF or equivalent.
•Ensure data integrity and swift recovery using DFSMShsm policies, FDR/ABR backups, and FlashCopy/virtual tape replication.
•Optimize system throughput and response times using RMF/SMF analysis, OMEGAMON or BMC MainView dashboards, and WLM tuning; support mainframe connectivity via VTAM/SNA and z/OS TCP/IP/OSA adapter.
•Execute OS and product upgrades using SMP/E for PTF/APAR deliverables and z/OSMF workflows; use tooling such as Broadcom/IBM/BMC tools for fix management and compliance reporting.

Key Requirements

•Multiple years of z/OS systems programming experience.
•Very strong Parallel Sysplex skills.
•Strong knowledge of z/OS components and tooling including TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, and RACF.
•Experience installing and supporting multiple IBM and CA products in a z/OS environment.
•Ability to write and debug system-level automation using Assembler, REXX, and JCL; troubleshoot abends/storage/performance issues (e.g., IPCS, SLIP, trace tools).
