Key Responsibilities

  • •Upgrade, maintain, and support the z/OS operating system.
  • •Upgrade and support ISV products (primarily IBM and Computer Associates/CA).
  • •Manage hardware and logical resources across LPARs, including DASD/tape allocation and HMC/LPar configuration; perform security administration using RACF or equivalent.
  • •Ensure data integrity and swift recovery using DFSMShsm policies, FDR/ABR backups, and FlashCopy/virtual tape replication.
  • •Optimize system throughput and response times using RMF/SMF analysis, OMEGAMON or BMC MainView dashboards, and WLM tuning; support mainframe connectivity via VTAM/SNA and z/OS TCP/IP/OSA adapter.
  • •Execute OS and product upgrades using SMP/E for PTF/APAR deliverables and z/OSMF workflows; use tooling such as Broadcom/IBM/BMC tools for fix management and compliance reporting.

Key Requirements

  • •Multiple years of z/OS systems programming experience.
  • •Very strong Parallel Sysplex skills.
  • •Strong knowledge of z/OS components and tooling including TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, and RACF.
  • •Experience installing and supporting multiple IBM and CA products in a z/OS environment.
  • •Ability to write and debug system-level automation using Assembler, REXX, and JCL; troubleshoot abends/storage/performance issues (e.g., IPCS, SLIP, trace tools).
