Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee in-house process development, including pilot-scale fermentation equipment design and production-process development for initial feasibility field trials.
  • •Support equipment selection and facility design for intermediate (5–10KL) and commercial (10–50KL) scales to enable field trials and commercial manufacturing.
  • •Collaborate with discovery research to develop production processes for unique/diverse microorganisms producing novel products.
  • •Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for upstream and downstream process challenges, implementing process improvements using deviation investigations, CAPA, and change control.
  • •Work with Quality and cross-functional partners to ensure safety and quality requirements for local and national regulatory agencies, while mentoring and building a high-performing team.

Key Requirements

  • •MS or PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering, or a technological field.
  • •10+ years of experience in biotechnology/biopharmaceutical process development or pilot-scale/commercial manufacturing.
  • •Demonstrated expertise in microbial physiology/fermentation, downstream processing, and scaling up from small-scale to pilot and commercial manufacturing.
  • •Experience preparing manufacturing documentation such as SOPs and Production Batch Records.
  • •Strong process data compilation and analysis skills, plus the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
