Key Responsibilities

  • •Install, test, and certify structured and patch panel cabling in a data center environment, including fiber and copper cabling to standards.
  • •Inspect and clean installed optical cabling and install single- and multi-mode optical cabling.
  • •Patch cabling between network equipment and the customer network, including layer 1 break-fix support.
  • •Assist in troubleshooting network equipment and cabling, perform de-installation of obsolete infrastructure, and complete Move/Add/Change (MAC) requests.
  • •Support equipment installation/swap-outs (cables, switches, routers), and assist with facilities efforts including power/UPS restoral and emergency cooling/restoration activities.

Key Requirements

  • •2–5 years of relevant experience, preferably at least 1 year in a data center environment.
  • •In-depth knowledge of structured cabling and experience with IEEE and BICSI cabling standards.
  • •Ability to clean and work safely with high-speed single- and multi-mode fiber optics, including long-range single-mode lasers.
  • •Experience testing installed cables using a Fluke Versiv Mainframe.
  • •Proven success troubleshooting layer 1 network concerns and ability to work shift work including nights and weekends.
