Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical advice and plan/lead ecology surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, UKHab surveys, and protected species surveys.
  • •Prepare tenders across schemes and suites of habitat, botanical, and protected species surveys.
  • •Contribute to ecological deliverables such as Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species Reports, EcIAs, Biodiversity chapters of EIAs, and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), including European Protected Species licence applications.
  • •Manage project delivery and maintain client liaison to support successful outcomes.
  • •Consult and negotiate with regulators and stakeholders, and provide mentoring and training to the wider ecology team.

Key Requirements

  • •An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (mentoring available for upgrade to Full Membership).
  • •Protected species license(s) or other specialist skill sets relevant to ecological consultancy.
  • •Experience undertaking PEAs, UKHab surveys, and protected species surveys.
  • •Experience producing fee quotations and tenders and contributing to technical ecological reports.
  • •Strong communication skills with a solution-focused, proactive attitude.
