Job Summary

Join the Surface Finishing R&D team to support development of single-crystal diamond surface finishing. You’ll operate and maintain lapping, grinding, dry etching and polishing equipment, perform precision sample processing, assist engineering with inspections, maintain lab equipment, and manage project documentation to drive quality, efficiency and cost improvements in a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Set up, operate, clean, and maintain specialized lapping, grinding, dry etching, and polishing equipment and prepare required slurries.
•Perform precision preparation and cleaning of samples through mounting, lapping, grinding, dry etching, and polishing workflows.
•Assist engineering with non-standard tests, specialized inspections, and ad-hoc laboratory procedures.
•Conduct minor maintenance and routine upkeep of laboratory and machine shop equipment, tools, and workspaces.
•Maintain accurate system documentation and proactively update stakeholders on backlog status, timelines, and progress.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 36 - 42 hourly

Key Requirements

•Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or engineering field.
•Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a professional lapping, grinding, and/or polishing environment.
•Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial mechanical lapping and polishing equipment from brands such as LapMaster, Ravasum, Applied Materials, Engis.
•Technical Inspection Skills: Knowledge of advanced surface measurement and technical inspection techniques.
•Physical & Operational Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lb and operate abrasive equipment safely.
