Key Responsibilities

  • •Own a rolling 12–18 month DV product roadmap, running monthly planning and publishing progress; maintain a prioritised backlog.
  • •Lead a 5–10 person engineering team and provide delivery, coaching, and hiring input while setting standards for architecture, testing, CI/CD, security, observability, and documentation.
  • •Design and evolve DV architecture across cloud/on-prem/hybrid sources, and build/maintain production-grade extensions and integrations (connectors, APIs, automation, policy integrations).
  • •Optimize performance through techniques such as pushdown, caching/materialisation, workload management, and capacity tuning.
  • •Ensure production service availability, performance, capacity and DR readiness; lead incident/problem management and produce RCAs for Sev1/Sev2 to drive fixes to closure.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years in data platforms, distributed systems, software, or data engineering.
  • •3+ years hands-on with data virtualisation/federated query/distributed SQL.
  • •Production experience with at least one: Starburst, Trino, or Denodo.
  • •2+ years owning a technical product backlog/roadmap and 2+ years leading and mentoring engineers.
  • •Strong SQL plus hands-on Java or Python development; experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, IaC, and observability.
