Job Summary

Drive the mechanical design of AMD’s next-generation server and GPU platforms as a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Data Center Platform Engineering Group. Lead mechanical architecture from concept through detailed design, prototypes, and validation using simulation, analysis, and physical testing. Collaborate across system architecture, board, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable, robust, and manufacturable solutions, and represent AMD in technical reviews and industry forums.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the mechanical design for advanced server and GPU platforms.
•Develop detailed mechanical designs and prototypes; validate via simulation, analysis, and physical testing.
•Collaborate with system architecture, board, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure cohesive product development and system reliability.
•Represent AMD in technical reviews, customer engagements, and industry forums.
•Provide consultative direction to senior leadership and mentor engineers to shape mechanical strategy and design trade-offs.

Key Requirements

•Principal-level mechanical or product design experience, ideally in server hardware, GPU systems, or high-performance computing.
•Proven mechanical design expertise for server and rack solutions.
•Expert CAD proficiency with tools such as Creo or SolidWorks (or equivalent), including advanced modeling and assembly management.
•Strong familiarity with DFM principles and manufacturing processes for high-volume production.
•Deep understanding of mechanical materials, manufacturing processes (sheet metal, injection molding, die casting, extrusion), and industry standards.
