Job Summary

Drive Visa Government Solutions’ public sector growth across South Africa and selected Southern Africa markets. Build and manage a pipeline of government opportunities, originate high-value digital payments initiatives, and strengthen relationships with national, provincial, and local stakeholders. Lead strategic pursuits, support RFP/proposal coordination, and engage ecosystem partners to expand wallet-enabled, payments-data solutions that improve efficiency, transparency, service delivery, and citizen outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

•Execute Government Solutions sales strategy across South Africa and selected Southern Africa markets, identifying priority clients and growth areas to support revenue and expansion goals.
•Build and advance a pipeline of public sector opportunities, creating account plans, sales strategies, business cases, and value propositions tied to measurable public impact.
•Establish and strengthen relationships with key public sector stakeholders to understand priorities, shape opportunities, and navigate procurement through bid and award stages.
•Originate opportunities for governments to use digital payments, wallets, and payments data to improve service delivery and decision-making across sectors such as social protection, health, education, mobility, and public finance.
•Lead or support RFP development, proposal coordination, and opportunity execution; collaborate cross-functionally and support strategic accounts with travel as required.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration, Technology, or a related field (MBA/relevant Masters’ is an advantage).
•5–8 years of relevant experience in business development, enterprise sales, account management, or government solutions sales, ideally in payments/financial services/fintech/technology/public sector.
•Strong understanding of public sector institutions, procurement, and government decision-making, with proven ability to influence stakeholders and originate opportunities.
•Strong consultative sales, relationship management, and business case development skills, including articulating value of digital payments for commercial and public sector outcomes.
•Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, stakeholder management, problem-solving skills; excellent written and spoken English (French is an advantage).
