Job Summary

Work with a national fire-protection team to deliver fire protection design services across concept-to-construction and commissioning phases. Design wet and dry fire protection systems—including hydrants, hose reels, sprinklers, alternative suppression, gas suppression, detection and evacuation—while ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, NCC, and local authority requirements. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers for integrated solutions and mentor junior engineers to drive technical excellence across medium to large projects.

•Provide fire protection project design and delivery from concept through construction and commissioning, ensuring high-quality solutions.
•Design and implement fire hydrant and hose reel systems, automatic fire sprinkler systems, alternative suppression systems, gas suppression, fire detection, and evacuation to meet Australian Standards.
•Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to develop integrated fire protection solutions for major clients.
•Ensure fire protection designs meet the NCC, Australian Standards, and local authority regulations, as well as client standards and guidelines.
•Use expertise in wet and dry fire protection systems to mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence across projects.

Key Requirements

•5+ years’ experience as a Fire Protection Engineer for an engineering consultancy (or contractor with extensive design experience), with Dry Fire experience highly regarded.
•Relevant degree and professional registrations (or eligible to hold), including RPEQ.
•Understanding of fire suppression and firefighting systems design, including fire hydrants, hose reels, portable fire equipment, and fire water supply infrastructure.
•Understanding of fire detection and alarm systems design, including emergency warning and intercom systems, plus high-level networking infrastructure (highly regarded).
•Experience designing and consulting on medium to large scale projects, with industry software such as Hyena and Revizto (and exposure to Revit preferred).
