Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage a caseload of fixed recoverable costs matters for Fast Track and MOJ, from settlement through court determination hearings.
  • •Maintain timely and accurate system updates and management information to ensure complete records.
  • •Analyze costs claimed, prepare cost strategy reports, and identify strengths and weaknesses for documents used in disputes.
  • •Negotiate costs within settlement parameters and handle correspondence and telephone calls.
  • •Undertake periodic file reviews, instruct Counsel or Costs Lawyer for Detailed Assessments or conduct advocacy, and meet performance targets.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience in a similar costs negotiator role (claimant or defendant) with handling your own caseload.
  • •Previous experience of client liaison.
  • •Have an understanding of the Detailed Assessment process, Cost Case Laws, and Insurance Litigation.
  • •Experience preparing Points of Dispute and considering replies (practice and process).
  • •Strong communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to remain calm under pressure and use your own initiative.
