Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the support function for data science and bioinformatics algorithms in production, ensuring accurate answers arrive while still useful.
  • •Lead cross-boundary investigations to distinguish biological signal, algorithm, data, or infrastructure issues and drive durable rules and design changes.
  • •Own process validation for pipelines and algorithms as operations change, defining evidence requirements before changes enter running workflows.
  • •Lead, hire, and grow a team of Data and Bioinformatics Scientists, modeling deep systems judgment and independent investigations.
  • •Partner across Production Engineering, Product, Bio Development, laboratory operations, and Data Science R&D to resolve operational issues and prevent recurring ones, including setting AI investigation standards.

Key Requirements

  • •M.S. or Ph.D. in a technical discipline such as Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent depth via work).
  • •5+ years working with genomic or sequencing data, including 2+ years leading people.
  • •Demonstrated ownership of a support, escalation, or on-call function with commitments attached, where being wrong has consequences.
  • •Demonstrated experience leading investigations to resolution across more than one system boundary, including deciding when to stop.
  • •Demonstrated ability to reach agreement across organizational lines without authority to drive decisions and adopted standards.
