Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple subsurface utility engineering (SUE) field crews, ensuring schedules, safety, and quality standards are met across diverse projects. Read and interpret utility drawings, as-builts, GIS records, and manage utility record requests with utility owners/call centers. Use advanced geophysical and surveying tools (e.g., GPR, GPS, Total Station, Trimble systems) to locate utilities and perform QA/QC, while mentoring junior field staff and troubleshooting issues in the field.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage day-to-day operations of multiple SUE field crews and ensure adherence to safety and quality guidelines.
•Create and maintain field crew schedules across multiple projects and ensure projects complete within communicated schedule/budget.
•Read and interpret utility drawings, as-builts, GIS files, and other utility records; process utility records requests with utility owners/operators.
•Use geophysical equipment and surveying tools to identify, designate, and locate utilities within the requested job scope, including vacuum excavation.
•Perform field audits, QA/QC of SUE field data (including subcontractors), troubleshoot field technical issues, and mentor junior staff.

Travel: High travel

Key Requirements

•BS degree plus 4 years of experience (or demonstrated equivalency).
•SUE and/or private utility locating experience with strong quality and attention to detail.
•Knowledge of SUE practices and procedures in accordance with ASCE 38-02 and 38-22.
•Frequent travel to field locations, including overnight travel.
•Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to meet physical demands of field work (e.g., lifting up to 50 pounds).
