Key Responsibilities

  • •Clean and sanitize hatchers and setters (50%).
  • •Clean and sanitize all hatchery equipment using high pressure and regular water hoses (30%).
  • •Monitor and record temperatures in the hatchers and setters (5%).
  • •Maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers; operate macerator, tray washer, tray, and set eggs; pull chicks; operate chick counter; pack or unpack eggs; maintain a clean and organized work area (15%).
  • •Follow biosecurity/animal welfare requirements and maintain safe, organized work practices throughout the shift.

  • •Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no job gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (18 months if laid off or providing child/elder care).
  • •Must be willing and able to follow biosecurity requirements, including showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering the facility.
  • •No jewelry may be worn except medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing; must be willing to sign agreements to avoid avian species and abide by biosecurity/animal welfare guidelines.
  • •Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements, including lifting/moving 50 lbs and pushing/pulling 500–1000 lbs, and working on wet/slippery surfaces.
  • •Must follow safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, and Lock out Tag out, and use required PPE.
