Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and maintain the holistic architectural view of device setup and connectivity across firmware, cloud, mobile, and home radios/networks.
  • •Partner with engineering leadership to propose, sequence, and socialize architectural changes that reduce install time and improve install quality.
  • •Define device health telemetry and self-healing so connectivity issues are reported and recover automatically without technician/customer calls.
  • •Lead build-vs-buy evaluations for networking, diagnostics, and observability services, and integrate chosen vendors into the platform, data model, and security/privacy posture.
  • •Collaborate with device makers and silicon partners to integrate commissioning, provisioning, update mechanisms, and telemetry hooks; document architecture decisions and diagnose field failure patterns to drive prioritized work.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years in software or systems engineering, including significant time as an architect or technical lead on distributed systems involving physical devices.
  • •Deep hands-on understanding of connected device architecture, including provisioning/commissioning, cloud-to-device connectivity, OTA firmware updates, and fleet telemetry at scale.
  • •Working knowledge of home networking and connectivity protocols, including Wi-Fi/mesh, band steering, multicast/mDNS, BLE, Z-Wave, Matter, Thread, and cellular backhaul.
  • •Experience evaluating, selecting, and integrating third-party platforms and services, and owning the technical vendor relationship through to production.
  • •Direct experience working with hardware manufacturers/ODMs/silicon partners on new product development, influencing requirements and early design decisions.
