Job Summary

Lead mechanical design delivery within Dyson’s Design Engineering function, partnering with internal teams and JDM partners to ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-effective product integration. Drive requirement management, planning/reporting, and design review processes, oversee build and test evaluation, and assess design maturity. Review and approve change/part/deviation requests, and provide subject-matter expertise for RFI/RFP/SOW to strengthen JDM design and manufacturing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

•Promote requirement management practices and help define design requirements, ensuring JDM teams correctly interpret and implement them.
•Collaborate with internal teams and JDM to identify dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans; plan and report progress to stakeholders; manage scope changes.
•Oversee JDM mechanical design development, including integration of electrical parts, and drive design reviews and issue management aligned to quality standards.
•Evaluate build and testing effectiveness: assess build outputs against requirements and guide test planning, methods, execution, and reporting.
•Assess design maturity (performance, robustness, manufacturability, residual risks), approve change/part/deviation requests, and support robust RFI/RFP/SOW development for JDM engagement.

Key Requirements

•Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent field.
•Strong understanding of product development methodology, including scoping work, decomposing complex problems, planning tasks, and removing non-value activities.
•Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, and Risk Management in product development.
•Track record developing engineering solutions from concept to market launch, including manufacturing/assembly techniques such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, die-casting, and rubber parts.
•Practical knowledge of 3D CAD, PLM systems, and analysis packages, with strong analytical/problem-solving and leadership abilities.
•Work with excellent communication skills in English and Chinese.
