Job Summary

Lead mechanical design delivery by collaborating with Dyson internal teams and JDM partners to ensure robust, manufacturable product integration. Own requirements management, planning and reporting for design engineering work, and manage design reviews and issue/change approvals. Evaluate build and test effectiveness, assess design maturity across performance and manufacturability, and provide technical guidance throughout development, including RFI/RFP/SOW support. Based in Shenzhen, working closely with partner sites.

Key Responsibilities

•Promote requirements management practices, contribute to design requirements, and ensure JDM partners correctly interpret and implement requirements throughout development.
•Collaborate to identify design-engineering dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies; assess and plan activities to meet design and project goals; monitor and report progress to stakeholders.
•Oversee mechanical design solution development by JDM teams, including electrical integration, and drive design reviews and issue management aligned to Dyson quality standards.
•Evaluate build processes and test activities: confirm build effectiveness/efficiency, assess build outputs against requirements, and provide technical guidance for test planning and methods.
•Assess design maturity across iterations (performance, robustness, manufacturability, residual risks) and review/approve change, part, and deviation requests; engage with JDM on design/manufacturing capabilities and RFI/RFP/SOW inputs.

Key Requirements

•A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
•Strong understanding of product development methodology, including scoping work and decomposing problems into manageable tasks.
•Knowledge and application of Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, and Risk Management in product development.
•Track record developing engineering solutions from concept to market launch, including manufacturing/assembly techniques (e.g., plastic injection molding, metal stamping, die-casting, rubber parts) and familiarity with motor and pump.
•Practical knowledge of 3D CAD, PLM systems, and analysis packages, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
