Job Summary

Own the operations, health, and optimization of mission-critical enterprise databases within Akamai’s Database Support team. Perform day-to-day Oracle database administration (including RAC over ExaCC), manage OEM alerts and incident resolution, and run database health checks and optimizations. Execute Oracle data refreshes with Data Pump and RMAN, troubleshoot MS SQL Server environments with Always On and Mirroring, and automate recurring tasks with SOPs to support global teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform day-to-day Oracle DB operations, user management, access provisioning, and issue resolution.
•Support and maintain Oracle RAC environments hosted over ExaCC across multitenant and non-multitenant databases on shared clusters.
•Manage OEM alerts, resolve incidents, and run routine database health checks and optimizations.
•Perform database refreshes using Oracle Data Pump (with parameter expertise) and RMAN.
•Troubleshoot MS SQL Server environment issues (Always On and Mirroring) and automate operational tasks while creating SOPs.

Key Requirements

•High school or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•5+ years of experience in database operations.
•Strong foundational expertise in Oracle database administration (RAC, OEM, RMAN, Data Pump, DG) with effective problem-solving.
•Experience managing SQL Server maintenance plans, including backups/restores, recovery models, TDE, CDC, and event-driven alerts.
•Knowledge of ITIL frameworks (incident, problem, and change management) and familiarity with GG microservices, ExaCC, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
