Job Summary

Ensure the integrity and safety of manufacturing processes at the Glascoed site as a functional safety subject matter expert. You’ll develop and assure compliant processes for both new and legacy products, guide projects and site teams, approve safety-related technical documentation and certificates, and investigate incidents. Partner with delegated authorities and SMEs, strengthen process safety culture, chair safety/environmental review panels, and contribute to continuous improvement across process safety.

Key Responsibilities

•Establish a credible Basis of Safety (BoS) and/or Trials Readiness Certificates for manufacturing processes, liaising with delegated authorities and reviewing technical documentation, risk assessments, commissioning plans, and test evidence.
•Advise delegated authorities on process safety matters for projects and capital acquisitions, ensuring human factors are considered across the safe system of work.
•Support continuous improvement by building and fostering a process safety culture across the Munitions business, including training and engagement with internal stakeholders and approval authorities/regulators.
•Participate as an approver in Engineering Change Management for process safety matters and conduct incident investigations with corrective action and data recording systems.
•Chair Engineering Safety and Environmental Review Panels (ESERPs) and act as an assurance approval signatory for trials readiness applications, while maintaining the framework of technical competencies and underpinning training/experience requirements.

Key Requirements

•Degree or higher qualification in a relevant engineering field, or equivalent experience.
•Proven track record producing technical engineering reports.
•Ability to define and contribute to process safety capability, including creation of safety-related engineering training material.
•Ability to lead implementation of process safety best practices, potentially acting as a trainer.
•Understanding of safety aspects and assessments for compliance against UK and other legislation, including hazard analysis, risk assessment, and ALARP arguments.
