Job Summary

Oversee large heavy civil construction projects ($50M–$300M) from planning and budgeting through startup, execution, and completion. Lead project teams to deliver highway, interstate roadway, rail transit, and other transportation/civil work safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. Manage financials, subcontractors and vendors, contract documentation (RFIs/submittals/change orders), safety and environmental compliance (OSHA), and quality control/closeout in coordination with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop comprehensive project plans and construction schedules to meet contract milestones and client expectations.
•Manage project budgets, forecast costs, control expenditures, and support invoice/change-order development to protect profitability.
•Lead, mentor, and motivate the project team; foster a safety-first culture and ensure team members understand roles and responsibilities.
•Select, negotiate, and oversee subcontractors and suppliers; coordinate with Quality Control/Quality Assurance to ensure work meets specifications, standards, and schedules.
•Administer contracts and documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress payments, and oversee safety, environmental compliance, quality control, and project closeout/turnover.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
•Minimum 15 years of civil construction industry experience, including at least 5 years as a Project Manager, Segment Manager, and/or Area Manager on heavy civil projects.
•Proven track record managing heavy civil projects start to finish, with familiarity with UDOT (or other DOT) procedures, specifications, and standards.
•Proficiency in construction management software, including project scheduling tools (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project), project management platforms (HCSS, Bid2Win or similar), and strong MS Office skills.
•Demonstrated 3–5 years of administrative and management experience in Alternative Delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build, CMAR, Progressive Design-Build).
