Job Summary

Conduct cutting-edge NLP research focused on large language models and deep learning. Lead work to improve LLM efficiency through novel architectures, improved pre-training, and target or multi-capability development. Design and implement training and prediction algorithms using PyTorch, integrate LLMs with other model types (e.g., computer vision), and optimize data processing and model performance. Document and publish results, represent MBZUAI at conferences, and collaborate across research teams via code/design reviews.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead research to improve the efficiency of large language models, including novel architectures and improved pre-training.
•Design and implement NLP algorithms for training and prediction, leveraging ML infrastructure and model optimization using PyTorch or other frameworks.
•Integrate and improve LLM algorithms so they work with other model types such as computer vision models.
•Identify gaps in existing technology and collaborate with research teams, stakeholders, and leaders to expand efficient LLM technology.
•Write up results for design documents, technical reports, and publications; represent MBZUAI at industry conferences and events.

Key Requirements

•Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
•Preferred PhD or equivalent research experience in Natural Language Processing.
•Experience with state-of-the-art GenAI techniques and models (e.g., LLMs, multi-modal, large vision models) or related concepts like language modeling.
•Software development experience in one or more languages (e.g., Python, C++) with data structures/algorithms.
•Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
