Key Responsibilities

  • •Define, implement, monitor, and report the comminution plant process strategy to optimize metallurgical performance and KPIs.
  • •Optimize throughput and energy efficiency by achieving target grind size for downstream sulphide flotation, while minimizing liner wear and grinding media consumption.
  • •Monitor and analyze process performance indicators using in-plant sampling and detailed data analysis; implement root-cause corrective actions for poor performance.
  • •Coordinate milling surveys, plant field trials, and metallurgical test-work; document trials and maintain databases of critical metallurgical values.
  • •Maintain HSE standards and compliance; supervise subordinate staff and provide technical support to shift teams and processing/mining interfaces.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum 5 years’ experience in large, complex metallurgical process operations, especially comminution circuits.
  • •Direct experience in plant technical metallurgist/engineering roles with base metal crushing & milling (SAG/Ball).
  • •Experience in process control systems and process information databases (e.g., PI Process Book) for metallurgical optimization.
  • •Degree in Chemical Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or related field.
  • •Eligibility for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and to hold relevant legal appointment under Zambian Mining Regulations.
