Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Health and Safety team and foster a proactive safety culture.
  • •Develop, implement, and continuously improve occupational health and safety programs, systems, standards, and procedures.
  • •Ensure compliance with the BC Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines and applicable legislation and company policies.
  • •Conduct audits, inspections, and critical control verifications; oversee hazard identification, risk assessment, contractor safety management, incident reporting, and action management.
  • •Lead significant incident investigations with root-cause analysis and corrective actions, monitor safety performance indicators, and partner with operational leaders to implement improvements.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree, diploma, or recognized certification in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent education and experience).
  • •Minimum 10 years of progressive health and safety experience in mining, including leadership experience at the Superintendent (or equivalent) level.
  • •Extensive knowledge of the BC Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines, occupational health and safety legislation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • •Strong knowledge of surface mining operations, including drill and blast, mining, processing, mobile equipment, maintenance, crushing, and contractor management.
  • •Experience developing and maintaining occupational health and safety management systems, including leading audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
