Job Summary

Lead and grow Etsy’s DesignOps function for a 130+ person Design and Research organization. Establish the operating rhythm (planning, prioritization, reviews, rituals, work-tracking), own high-leverage programs such as AI training and intake/capacity systems, and partner with Design leadership and cross-functional ops teams. Steward the design tool stack and budget, manage vendors with Procurement, and make the team’s impact visible through executive-ready communications.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and grow the DesignOps team, coaching practitioners and shaping the future of the function.
•Set planning, prioritization, and review cadences, including resetting team rituals and work-tracking systems, and evolving the operating model.
•Own one or two high-leverage strategic programs at a time (e.g., AI training, intake/capacity scaling, or review/shipping processes).
•Partner with design leadership as a thought partner to improve team health, decisions, and new initiatives while clarifying ambiguous problems.
•Steward the design tool stack and budget, partnering with Procurement on tool selection/adoption, managing vendors, and ensuring strong ROI.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 235,000 - 305,000

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience in design operations, program management, or chief-of-staff roles within a design, product, or creative organization.
•Experience leading a DesignOps function and managing a small team with a track record of growing people and shaping the discipline.
•A builder’s mindset with direct experience launching or evolving operational systems (not only maintaining them).
•Comfort moving between strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with judgment on which mode is needed.
•Fluency with modern design tools and systems, including planning rhythms, intake/prioritization, capacity systems, and team rituals.
