Job Summary

Perform geotechnical field inspections and mapping for dam safety, including landslide and crack monitoring and subsurface condition analysis. Conduct stability, seepage, deformation, and liquefaction assessments for embankment dam and related structure designs. Use geomechanics numerical modeling and generate earthquake ground motion response spectra for reports. Plan and coordinate field investigations, including work plans, health and safety plans, and oversight of subcontractors and client representatives.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform geotechnical field inspections, geologic and landslide mapping, and crack monitoring for dam abutments and reservoir rims.
•Conduct stability analyses, including seepage analysis and materials characterization, and support embankment dam modelling.
•Perform deformation analysis for selected embankment designs and prepare data for numerical modelling.
•Execute liquefaction triggering assessments and calculate lateral earth pressure and bearing capacity pressure for related structures.
•Plan and coordinate field investigations, including work plans, health and safety plans, and oversight with subcontractors and client representatives.

Key Requirements

•Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (or a Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience).
•Experience in geotechnical earthquake engineering, engineering geology, and seismology.
•Ability to perform numerical modelling in geomechanics, including geotechnical testing and design.
•Hands-on skills with tools including MATLAB and Python and geotechnical software such as RocPlane and GeoStudio.
•Engineer-in-Training certification is required.
