Design, fabricate, and implement battery test equipment for next-generation batteries used across SpaceX programs. Own test campaigns end-to-end—from test planning and system activation to test operations, data review, and maintaining test stand hardware. Establish safety protocols for high-voltage and destructive battery tests, troubleshoot DAQ/control systems (National Instruments-based), and build fluid/mechanical test systems supporting reliability, safety, and performance goals.

Key Responsibilities

•Create test fixturing concepts and establish mechanical, thermal, and electrical tests for rapid development of battery packs.
•Own test campaigns end-to-end, including test plan creation, system activation, test operations, data review, and test stand equipment design/fabrication/maintenance.
•Establish rigorous safety protocols for high-voltage applications and destructive battery tests.
•Direct technicians daily to fabricate and integrate test articles and stand equipment.
•Develop and maintain test procedures, sequences, scripts, configuration files, and software; operate and troubleshoot data acquisition/control systems and instrumentation.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering field.
•1+ years of hands-on testing experience (including internships, clubs, or hands-on extracurriculars).
•Familiarity with instrumentation and control components such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, and load cells.
•Experience using 3D modeling software such as Siemens NX, Inventor, or CATIA.
•Ability to read and apply technical manuals, data reports, mechanical/electrical schematics, and design specifications.
