Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and develop capabilities for a next-generation distributed transaction platform supporting Amex card transactions in a low-latency, highly available architecture.
  • •Function as a leader on Agile teams by contributing to software builds, leading code reviews, and automated testing.
  • •Contribute to high- and detailed-level design of complex subsystems focused on reliability and performance.
  • •Perform technical software development for assigned applications, including design, prototyping, and coding, and debug components to remediate defects.
  • •Explore and adopt new technologies by building POCs, and collaborate with peer technology and Scrum teams across locations.

Key Requirements

  • •Computer Science / Information Systems degree (or equivalent) with 12+ years of professional work experience.
  • •Strong implementation experience with object-oriented languages such as C/C++, Java, or Go (Java preferred), with performance-focused systems knowledge.
  • •Hands-on distributed microservices experience, including Service Mesh frameworks (Envoy, Linkerd, Istio) and gRPC/ProtoBuf.
  • •Experience with distributed systems monitoring/tracing (Zipkin/Jaeger, ELK Stack, Grafana, Prometheus).
  • •Cloud-native development experience and familiarity with cloud platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift), plus NoSQL/distributed messaging (Redis, Kafka, Cassandra, etc.).
