Key Responsibilities

  • •Operate the asphalt distributor on road construction projects.
  • •Set spray bars for applying liquid asphalt using manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors.
  • •Oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
  • •Perform minor servicing and maintenance to keep equipment in efficient working condition, or refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • •Perform related duties such as shovel work and setting string line, including adding or removing screed extensions.

Key Requirements

  • •Hold a current CDL license, preferably with Tanker endorsement, and be able to learn to operate an asphalt distributor truck.
  • •Operate asphalt distributor equipment by setting the spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt.
  • •Perform minor servicing and make normal operating adjustments to equipment, and refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • •Pass DOT physical and drug screen.
  • •Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and apply basic math skills using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
