Job Summary

Senior Traction Power Engineer responsible for leading transit traction power engineering initiatives in the Minneapolis rail/transit sector. Will guide design teams on diagrams, substation layouts, and power systems analysis, perform grounding, load flow, and arc flash studies, coordinate with CAD/BIM, and support procurement, testing, and site investigations within MV substations and electrified rail environments.

Key Responsibilities

•Technical leadership across all elements of transit traction power engineering; guide design teams and prepare/coordinate diagrams, SCADA, wiring, substation layouts, and equipment specifications.
•Develop and support test plans, field tests, reports, analyses, and technical studies for traction power systems; manage project scheduling and cost estimates.
•Perform grounding design, load flow, harmonic, power flow, voltage drop, protective relay settings and coordination and arc flash studies using specialized software; coordinate ductbank drawings with system disciplines.
•Support CAD for BIM clash detection; produce concept, prelim, final designs, and issued-for-construction drawings; develop test procedures for design verification and validation.
•Assist in system implementation phases (installation, testing & commissioning, cutover, record drawings, final reports) and support procurement through technical requirements, vendor bid evaluations, and vendor selection.

Salary: USD 90,000 - 150,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
•5 to 7+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior transit and rail experience.
•Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with clients, supervisors, office staff, and inspectors regarding project status and issues, drawings, specifications and qualification test results.
•Detail-oriented, with capability to detect non-conformities and complete detailed reports within a timely manner.
•Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework
