Job Summary

Environmental field technician role supporting a long‑term oil sands program in Northern Alberta. You’ll perform geotechnical and environmental field investigations, sample collection, data logging, and on‑site monitoring, working with engineers, contractors, and clients on a fly‑in/fly‑out project with a two‑weeks‑in/two‑weeks‑out rotation from Western Canada. Strong safety culture and independent field work are essential.

Job Function: Environmental & Sustainability

Key Responsibilities

•Champion a strong safety culture by actively promoting and following WSP’s Health and Safety policies and Life Saving Rules.
•Execute geotechnical and environmental field programs including drilling, soil sampling, test pitting, and on‑site monitoring.
•Collect, manage, and maintain accurate field data, logs, and testing documentation.
•Support laboratory and field testing programs that inform design and construction decisions.
•Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and clients to resolve field‑related issues efficiently.

Key Requirements

•Education in Environmental Sciences or Environmental Engineering.
•Hands‑on experience with drilling programs, soil sampling, test pitting, and geotechnical field investigations.
•Knowledge of soil testing, subgrade evaluation, and foundation preparation practices.
•Proficiency with common industry software used for field data collection and reporting.
•A valid Alberta driver’s licence and the ability to work in a fly‑in/fly‑out camp environment.
