Job Summary

Lead the build-out and scaling of an in-house machining capability for high-performance satellite communications ground-station hardware. Own the end-to-end roadmap: select and procure CNC equipment, commission the shop, design layouts and workflows, create fixturing and workholding, develop and maintain CAM programs and documentation, and train operators. Drive continuous improvement in yield, cycle time, scrap, and process capability while partnering with design engineering on DFM and inspections.

Key Responsibilities

•Own the roadmap to establish and scale an internal machine shop, including capability definition, machine selection, procurement, and commissioning.
•Source, evaluate, and purchase CNC machines and supporting equipment (workholding, tooling, metrology, material handling) while balancing space, budget, throughput, and scalability.
•Coordinate machine delivery, rigging, utilities, installation, acceptance testing, and define ongoing maintenance strategy.
•Design shop layout, workflows, and safety/operational standards, including material flow, tool control, inspection flow, and chip/coolant management.
•Create and maintain CAM programs and machining documentation (setups, tool lists, inspection plans, standardized work), train operators, and drive continuous improvement based on yield, cycle time, scrap reduction, and process capability.

Key Requirements

•Demonstrated fixture/workholding design experience that brings repeatable machining into production.
•Strong CAM programming skills (e.g., Fusion, Mastercam, NX CAM) with practical understanding of feeds/speeds, tooling, and setup strategy.
•Comfort working hands-on on the floor to prove programs, debug issues, and iterate quickly.
•Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate vendors/contractors and cross-functional stakeholders.
